Mayor’s Youth Council Welcomed By City Council

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks announced the members of the 2019-2020 Mayor’s Youth Council at the City Council meeting Tuesday night. The program, known as MYCity, is in its fifth year and offers students the opportunity to learn about local city government, develop leadership skills and serve as a voice for the youth in the community.

Hendricks said he is excited about what the seventeen students selected for the program have to offer to the community.

He also thanked Christian County Public Schools’ Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill and principals who support the program.

The final selections of the high school juniors and seniors were based on written applications, letters of references and a panel interview process. Regular meetings of MYCity are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the Municipal Center located at 715 South Virginia Street in downtown.
