Trigg County High School has been selected as a recipient of the 2019 State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant that will be used to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
The program awards $25,000 grants to 40 different causes across the nation. Trigg County High School Principal Shannon Burcham tells the News Edge they want to use the grant to promote suicide prevention and better mental health in students.
One Friend’s intention is to help every student across the state be the one friend who could save someone’s life.
The state of Kentucky uses a video about suicide prevention that contains outdated data and information. Burcham says the school wishes to use the grant money to create a new video to be shown in schools across the state.
School officials say they have already begun production of the video and hope to finish it around April.
