Clarksville Speedway Will Host Saturday Races After Recent Damage

Bleachers at the Clarksville Speedway were destroyed during the severe storm that rolled through Saturday afternoon.

WTVF Channel 5 reports crews are working to get the racetrack back under normal operations after the strong winds knocked down the entire section of bleachers. Track owner William Scogin told WTVF when the winds picked up he was running around the parking lot catching barrels when he received a phone call from the fire department saying containers on the backstretch were laying in the road. He adds around that time is when he looked and found the bleachers flipped over on the race track.

Scogin says it’s hard to believe that 70 MPH winds could cause such a big mess and estimates the damage will cost in upwards of $750,000. He indicates the racetrack is insured and that will help to cover the cost of the bleachers and fix the lights that were broken during the severe storm.

The News Edge tried to contact Scogin, but he was unavailable for comments because of the work to get the track back up and running for the last races of the season.
