First District State Senator Stan Humphries says he will not seek a third term in the Kentucky Senate.
Humphries was elected first district State Senator in 2012 after he defeated former Congressman Carroll Hubbard in the general election. Humphries made the announcement official on Monday and confirmed the news to legislators and others on hand for the Pennyrile Area Development District Christmas Luncheon and Legislative Update.
Humphries told the News Edge he is pleased with his service in the Kentucky Senate but feels it is time to step down at the end of his second term in 2020.
Humphries previously served as Trigg County Judge-Executive prior to the successful campaign for State Senate.
