Two more Democrats filed Friday to run for the U.S. Senate in the 2020 election, the seat currently held by Senator Mitch McConnell.

Democrat Amy McGrath, of Lexington, and another Democrat challenger for the U.S. Senate seat, Mike Broihier of Stanford, both officially filed their paperwork with the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office Friday afternoon.

McGrath is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel and pilot raised in Kentucky. McGrath has said she is running for the U.S. Senate to fix Washington and give Kentuckians back their voice.

As of Friday, five Democrats and five Republicans, including McConnell, have officially filed seeking the U.S. Senate seat. The candidates will face off in the 2020 May primary election and the winners of each party will then move on to the general election in November.
