U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says President Donald Trump should get the same treatment during the Impeachment Trial like President Bill Clinton’s in 1999.
In remarks made Friday on the Senate floor, McConnell notes the impeachment has been a situation where House Democrats have blown right past specific warnings of our founding fathers, like Alexander Hamilton.

He adds they have heard claims that any senators who have formed opinions about House Democrats’ irresponsible and unprecedented actions, as they have played out in the view of the nation, should be disqualified from the next phase.

He went on to add Senators do not cease being senators just because the House sends the Articles of Impeachment. He notes their jobs remain the same, to represent their states, constituents, and the best interests for the nation.
As of Friday afternoon, the House of Representatives had not sent the articles to the Senate. McConnell says they will continue to do the ordinary business while the House Democrats continue to flounder with the articles.
