A Fort Campbell man is facing several charges, including wanton endangerment after police say he fled when they tried to make a traffic stop in Livingston County Tuesday night.
Kentucky State Police Post 1 spokesman Trooper Adam Jones reports Troopers Casey Hamby and Will Propes attempted to pull a car over that was traveling north at a high rate of speed on State Route 453 near Luka shortly before 6:00 p.m. However, troopers said the driver, later identified as 20-year old Tevin Nicander of Cary, North Carolina but who resides in Fort Campbell, didn’t pull over and fled onto Heater Store Road where he lost control of the vehicle and ran over a road sign. The vehicle then reportedly turned onto Ramage Cemetery Road where troopers saw the car parked with the lights turned off and Nicander and a passenger still inside.
Troopers arrested Nicander and he was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, third-degree criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic offenses. He was lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center. Police say the passenger, 20-year old Alex Adams of Fort Campbell was detained and then released.
Trooper Hamby is continuing the investigation.
