A Hopkinsville man accused of fatally shooting a man on Kenwood Drive in 2017 was scheduled to enter a plea in the case Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court, but that didn’t happen.
According to court records, Sergio Del Angel was scheduled to go to trial for murder and other charges on February 17, 2020, but the trial was vacated because he was going to enter a plea. However, when Del Angel and his defense attorney David Rye appeared before Judge John Atkins Wednesday he did not enter a plea and Judge Atkins scheduled another jury trial on May 18, 2020.
Del Angel is charged with murder, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and other offenses in the death of Kristofer Armstrong who was shot on the front porch of a Kenwood Drive home on May 11, 2017.
He remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
