Seat Belt Violation Led To Drug Charges In Hopkinsville

A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of meth and marijuana after a traffic stop for a seat belt violation Sunday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 21-year-old Travis Putney of Hopkinsville was stopped on East 4th Street for not wearing his seatbelt.

During the stop, police could allegedly smell marijuana in the vehicle and found meth and marijuana in 29-year-old Deontrez Artis’s pocket.

Artis is charged with possession of meth and marijuana. Putney was cited for no insurance and not wearing a seatbelt.
