Motorists traveling in Hopkinsville need to be aware of a street closure Thursday and Friday.
Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority (HWEA) will be closing East 21st Street between Fort Campbell Boulevard at Walnut Street and South Virginia Street in order to perform sanitary sewer work associated with the Kirkman Terrace development. The closure will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. both days.
Officials are encouraging motorists to use Country Club Lane and East 9th Street as detour routes. Northbound traffic on Fort Campbell Boulevard and southbound traffic on Walnut Street will not be able to turn onto East 21st Street. Likewise, traffic from South Virginia Street will not be able to turn onto East 21st Street due to the closure.
HWEA officials say the improvements are necessary to the system and safety for their personnel.
