Indiana Crash Claims Lives Of Two Russellville Children

A Sunday night crash in Indiana claimed the lives of two Logan County children.

WTHI-TV reports Saliea Davis of Russellville, was driving along State Road 32 in northern Vermillion County. They add while attempting to cross State Road 63, Davis’ van was hit by a southbound semi.

Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Phelps reports she failed to stop before crossing the road.

The crash killed her 5 and 7-year old children, with a 9-year old airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital with life-threatening injuries. Davis and two other children were airlifted to a hospital in Champaign, Illinois for non-life-threatening injures.

The Russellville Independent School District released a statement on Facebook Monday afternoon identifying the children as Olivia Leek and Sebastian Davis. Leek attended Russellville Preschool Academy and Davis was a second-grader at Stevenson Elementary School. In addition, Trinity Davis, who attends Stevenson, is being treated for injuries.

The message from Superintendent Bart Flener adds counselors will be at the schools to help students and staff members affected by the tragedy.
