Christian County Fiscal Court Members Hear COVID-19 Update

Christian County Fiscal Court members practiced social distancing during their Tuesday morning meeting where they learned more about COVID-19 and heard an update from the jail.

Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the confirmed case number in Tennessee is significantly higher and cases continue to increase along Kentucky border counties.

Graham says the EOC did a partial activation on Monday, March 16.

When a lot more COVID-19 cases are confirmed in the county, the EOC will be placed under full activation and the partners will be needed more.

He adds they are urging the public to use the new statewide hotline to report businesses not following current mandates.

In addition, magistrates heard from Christian County Jailer Brad Boyd who says a regional jail may be created to facilitate the intake of inmates who may have COVID-19 symptoms.

Boyd adds the decision on where a regional intake facility will be located will be made by the Justice Cabinet. The possible location in Christian County could be the old jail on Weber Street, which is currently the Restricted Custody Center, that houses the work release program.
