Hopkinsville Officials Release Guidelines For Parking Lot Church Services

The City of Hopkinsville has released additional safety guidelines for parking lot church gatherings that may take place at churches Sunday.

Officials say taking consistent, robust precautions throughout our area continues to be critical in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. They add according to Governor Andy Beshear’s guidance earlier this week, parking lot church services are permissible if only individuals from a single household are in each vehicle, with no carpooling or use of church buses allowed. In addition, each vehicle must be more than six feet apart, especially if windows are rolled down.

Everyone who attends a parking lot church service must remain in their vehicles during the service and you are not allowed to pass anything between vehicles. Additionally, those attending services at neighborhood churches within walking distance of their homes are reminded to use mandatory social distancing protocols, with lawn chairs or perimeter seating is not permitted at any services.

Organizers of church gatherings where attendees fail to adhere to the guidelines are responsible for enforcing all of them. Failure to do so may result in the gathering being halted immediately with everyone in attendance required to leave and return home, even if the service is not finished.
