Man Pronounced Dead After Being Hit By Two Vehicles In Benton

A Dexter man was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle hit a deer and two vehicles hit him in Benton Monday night.

Kentucky State Police say 35-year-old William Nelson was northbound on Interstate 69 at the 41-mile marker when his motorcycle hit a deer ejecting him and his passenger 22-year-old Asia Sledd of Murray.

Nelson landed in the roadway and Sledd was found on the shoulder of the road.

Police say due to the lack of lighting in the area a car driven by 25-year-old Kermit Peck of Camden, Tennessee and a truck driven by 67-year-old Michael Martin of Gilbertsville hit Nelson.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger Sledd was taken to Marshall County hospital by ambulance then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. The Marshall County coroner has requested a toxicology for Nelson.
