Governor Andy Beshear says 3 additional staff members at Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville have tested positive for COVID-19.
During his Thursday afternoon update, Beshear says no new cases have been confirmed among patients.
As the number of confirmed cases has grown out of hand for River’s Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa, Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says help has arrived. The help comes after officials with the facility, Lyon County government, and Jim Tolley, Director of the Pennyrile District Health Department determined it was needed and came in the form of four medical students helping on-site.
Gant Unfried is among the team in Lyon County and is a Hopkinsville High School graduate.
Governor Beshear confirmed there were 134 new cases across the Commonwealth, bringing the updated total to 1,452. He also confirmed 6 new deaths, including a 70 and an 82-year old female from Hopkins County.
None of the new cases confirmed during Thursday’s update included Trigg County, which has yet to be mentioned in his conferences.
The News Edge has reached out to Governor Andy Beshear’s chief of staff and communications office to get clarification on why the state COVID-19 map continues to show Trigg County with no cases. The first case in the county was reported Saturday by local health officials, with a fourth case reported Thursday.
