Princeton Man Facing Drug Charges Following Accident

A Princeton man is facing charges, including drug possession, following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison states that officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US Highway 62 West and Parkway Drive just after three. He adds that preliminary investigation revealed that 19-year-old Camilo Mendez, of Eddyville, was traveling east on US 62 and was stopped at the intersection of Parkway Drive when 52-year-old Richard B. Ray struck the rear of Mendez’s vehicle causing severe damage.

Assistant Chief Allison reports that after further investigation Ray was determined to allegedly be under the influence of intoxicants. A search of the vehicle then revealed suspected marijuana and methamphetamine.

Ray was arrested and charged with his first DUI offense, first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and various other vehicle-related offenses.

He was then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

No injuries were reported in the collision.
