While many retail businesses across the state were able to continue providing services Wednesday by opening its doors the public, there were other retail sectors that reopened for the first time in any capacity since March.
Missy Burgess, owner of Consignment World in Cadiz, was happy to restart her business under the state’s Healthy at Work guidelines. She says customers will notice a few changes when they shop in her store.

right-click to download mp3Wednesday was the first time Consignment World was open since March 23 due to an executive order from Governor Andy Beshear. Burgess said the time away from work allowed her to spend more time with her grandchildren, with the newest being born during the shutdown.
Meanwhile, stores in downtown Cadiz also had the chance to reopen for the first time in two months. Jeannie Bodine is the owner of Purple Pig Antiques. She says nearly 85-percent of her business comes from people visiting Cadiz and Trigg County. In the first two days of reopening, she said customers have come locations a short drive away.

right-click to download mp3Bodine, who also serves on Cadiz City Council, said the temporary closure of Lake Barkley State Park by the state will have an adverse affect on not only on tourism in the county but businesses located in Cadiz.
