Contractors for the Hopkinsville Surface and Stormwater Utility expect to close a section of West 7th Street on Tuesday, weather permitting.
The road will be closed at the Hipkins Street intersection near Kentucky Avenue. The intersection is scheduled to be closed again for about two weeks beginning June 1 lasting through June 12.
The public is encouraged not to use residential side streets as detours. Instead, drivers should follow marked recommended traffic detours along North Drive, Sanderson Drive, as well as North and South Main Streets.
Officials say the closure may prove inconvenient but will help resolve flooding issues at the intersection and is being completed by the Hopkinsville Surface and Stormwater Utility in partnership with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
