Caldwell County officials are reminding the community of a great natural recreation area available in our backyard that’s recently been made safer thanks to help from the state forestry department.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says rescue crews have had issues over the years getting rescue equipment into Jones-Keeney Wildlife Management Area and so they reached out to Chad Brothers with the Kentucky Division of Forestry for their help to make the area safer.
He adds crews were able to clear the trails of fallen trees and brush at the beginning of June.
Chief Francis states they were also able to set up a good landing zone for a rescue helicopter.
He notes they were able to create a new trail for better rescues near the bluffs.
Chief Francis explains the wildlife area, which has trail access on Highway 62 West/Dawson Road in Princeton, is a gorgeous place to take the whole family and enjoy nature but is encouraging everyone to be smart and follow proper safety precautions when they visit.
