A tractor-trailer fire shut down westbound traffic on Interstate 24 in Trigg County near the 62 mile-marker Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, which originated near the Cerulean Road overpass, was in the middle of a work zone where 2-way traffic is running on the westbound lanes. Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports the truck struck the centerline barrier wall and ripped open a fuel tank before striking the crash barrier at one of the emergency crossovers.
He adds due to the damage to the crash cushion and barrier wall and substantial debris field the roadway at this site was expected to be blocked through at least midnight.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
