Redeemed and Restored, a faith-based residential treatment facility in Hopkinsville is making a difference in the lives of those who face addictions.
Program Director Lindsey Higgins says the men they treat have physical, mental, and spiritual components to overcome.
Tony Deason, who is celebrating 14 months of sobriety from alcohol, graduated the program in July 2019. He says through hard-nosed bible study and love and support shown through the program, he realized alcohol was not his problem, but rather how he faced his life questions.
Deason adds if you face your problems head-on, you end up having a lot less stress in your life.
Higgins shared they have started a new program at Redeemed and Restored. She adds they foster one dog at a time from local animal shelters, the dog serves as a therapy dog and allows the men in the program to love something else while recovering. After graduating from the program, the men have an opportunity to adopt the dog that aided in their recovery.
Ronnie Ray is the first to adopt the dog that helped him through his recovery process.
Higgins says over 200 men have participated in the program. Those who successfully complete the program have a chance to help other men who are going through the same process by volunteering at the facility.
