The Calloway County Sheriff will step down next week.
The Murray Ledger and Times reports Sam Steger will resign Monday morning. Steger says the decision comes after an opportunity presented itself on his family’s farm in Christian County. Steger adds his plans were to not seek another term as sheriff of Calloway County so he could spend more time on the farm.
The newspaper reports Steger is two years into his second term. They add Calloway County Judge-Executive Kenny Imes will appoint an interim sheriff soon.
