A Kuttawa man is facing various charges following an armed robbery in Lyon County last week.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says deputies, as well as Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, responded to an armed robbery about nine miles south of Eddyville shortly before 2:00 Saturday afternoon, September 12th. He adds reports indicated a white male had allegedly entered Molloy’s Korner convenience store wearing a hoodie sweatshirt, brandishing a knife, and demanded cash from the clerk. During the robbery, Sheriff White says a brief struggle occurred and the suspect attempted to stab or cut the clerk.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot toward KY 274 before law enforcement arrived and despite a search of the area, he was not located.
According to Sheriff White, on Thursday deputies were able to identify a male suspect who had been visiting friends in the area over the past week. In addition, deputies were able to locate and seize evidence related to the robbery off of Driftwood Drive while searching for the suspect. Around 4:00 Thursday afternoon deputies located the robbery suspect, 59-year old Paul Franks, and detained him initially on traffic offenses. He was then taken to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Following an interview, Franks was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence charges. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
