The Princeton Art Guild has announced the newest exhibit in the Charles Alvin Lisanby Gallery which is featuring several different artists from around the area.
Director Melissa Peek says the Watercolor Artist Guild of Trigg, Lyon, and Caldwell Counties (WAG/TLC) is celebrating their 15th year by showcasing their work at the Art Guild through November 30th. She adds the exhibit will be available for viewing the entire months of October and November and can be viewed during the Art Guild’s normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 11AM until 2PM.
Peek explains WAG/TLC was originally established in April 2005 by a group of nine local artists who met while studying watercolor painting with Cadiz resident, artist and teacher Jinna Bower, and later decided to continue painting together, leading to the formation of the Watercolor Guild. Over the years members of the Guild have donated their works to local libraries and also decorate a tree each year for the Janice Mason Art Museum Festival of Trees in Cadiz.
Peek states membership is open to all skill levels and notes the Guild’s mission is to provide a nurturing, supportive environment for adult watercolor artists by engaging in biweekly painting groups, local plein air opportunities, and occasional educational community workshops. She says two of WAG’s artists, Kat Sholly and Janet Miller, have recently been featured in the Kentucky Watercolor Society show and Sholly has also recently had a solo show at the Janice Mason Art Museum.
Peek adds an artist reception will be held Sunday, October 11th from 2 until 3:30PM at the Princeton Art Guild, which is located at 115 East Main Street in Princeton. Live music will be presented by local guitarist and singer, Jon Prudhomme, and light refreshments will be available. Peek notes the event is free to the public but is asking for patience as only a limited number of guests will be available in the Guild House at one time.
She is reminding anyone interested in attending the event to follow social distancing mandates while waiting to enter the building and while perusing the exhibit. Masks are also strongly encouraged.
