The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday including charges of possessing and distributing child porn, wanton endangerment, and unlawful imprisonment.
The grand jury indicted 44-year-old Clinton Carter Shepherd, of Hopkinsville, on 19 counts each for possession and distribution of matter of a sexual performance by a minor. The charges stem from August 2017 to August 2020 after an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation by Kentucky State Police. Shepherd was found to be downloading images of child sexual abuse material. On August 5, a search warrant was issued and executed at his residence on Irish Circle. Shepherd was approached in the driveway of his residence and an interview was conducted. Police said he admitted to searching for, downloading, and saving images and videos of children. During an on-scene forensic preview, 19 images were found on electronic devices and removed from Shepherd’s bedroom. State Police add numerous images that were found to be transferred and saved on Shepherd’s computer on an external hard drive.
40-year-old Richard Kauai Guiala, of Crofton, was indicted on a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. On September 7, Christian County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 8000 block of Madisonville Road after receiving a complaint of shots fired in the area. Witnesses said Guiala had a woman detained against her will and a loaded handgun was recovered from his vehicle at the scene.
And 35-year-old John Wayne Talbert, Jr., of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, retaliating against a participant in a legal process, and 2 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charges stem from a July 18th incident where Hopkinsville Police report Talbert fired a gun into a parked vehicle on Broad Street. Police add the unoccupied vehicle was shot at four times near the intersection of Stanley Street after the owner had allegedly damaged his vehicle. Talbert was arrested and rushed by an ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for an unrelated medical issue.
