Police have released more information about a high-speed pursuit that started in the area of Grand Rivers on Interstate 24 and ended in Trigg County Sunday night.
Kentucky State Police say they attempted to stop a car driven by 29-year-old Lamarr Moye of St. Louis, Missouri, for driving recklessly and speeding around the 33-mile marker when he fled from them for several miles on interstate 24.
During the pursuit, Police say Moye tossed alcoholic beverages, suspected marijuana, and a .38 caliber handgun out the window on the interstate. The pursuit reportedly came to an end when Cadiz Police used spike strips to deflate three of the tires on the vehicle near exit 65.
Moye got off Interstate 24 at exit 65 and continued to flee turning into Broadbent Square then into the Wendy’s drive-thru line behind another vehicle. State Police and other law enforcement officials were able to surround the car and take the suspects into custody.
Moye was arrested and charged with DUI, trafficking marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and first-degree wanton endangerment.Moye’s passenger 30-year-old Zandra C. McElmore of St. Louis, Missouri, was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, alcohol intoxication in a public place, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
