Kentucky is on pace for a fourth straight week of declining COVID-19 cases which would mark a first in the 11-month battle against the virus.
While the state’s 2,500 cases reported Thursday represent a continued decline compared to the previous month, the 58 deaths announced is the fifth time in the past two weeks that number has been above 50. Governor Andy Beshear said the time range of the deaths dates back to November. Governor
He added only 18 of the 58 deaths came from long-term care facilities which accounted for nearly 65-percent of the state’s deaths in the fall.
On Thursday, Tennessee reported 3,154 new cases and 169 new deaths.
The state’s testing positivity rate of 8.3-percent is the lowest since December 28.
