KY COVID Numbers Returning to pre-Thanksgiving Plateau

Kentucky’s COVID-19 case numbers are starting to return to the time of the pre-Thanksgiving plateau.

After seeing cases in Kentucky stay below 3,000 per day for nearly half of January, the state saw its 18th straight sub-3,000 day Wednesday.

The state reported 1,914 new cases, the fewest on a Wednesday since November 4. The testing positivity rate was 7.5-percent, the lowest since Nov. 9.

Kentucky ranks 25th nationally in COVID-19 cases and eighth in active cases.

The only area not comparable to November is deaths with 49 announced Wednesday – the 22nd straight day with 30 or more deaths announced.

Kentucky ranks 32nd nationally in total deaths, which is where it has remained for most of the pandemic. When adjusted for one million population, Kentucky drops to 42nd.
