Governor Andy Beshear made one of his first official trips to western Kentucky since taking office last year to meet with government officials in Calloway County and tour flood damage.
Calloway County Judge-Executive Kenneth Imes declared a local state of emergency as a result of flood damage in the county and the city of Murray. Beshear said the state will be seeking federal assistance as well.

Meanwhile, Beshear said about 1,000 people have been evacuated from the eastern Kentucky city of Jackson by way of helicopters, kayaks, and vehicles as communities there deal with nearly six inches of rain that fell over the weekend.
