The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will deploy approximately 200 soldiers to Chicago to support a state-run, federally supported Community Vaccination Center at the city’s United Center.
Officials said the soldiers are assigned to the 426th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. They are projected to deploy Friday.
The 101st Airborne soldiers are part of the Department of Defense’s COVID-19 response operation, which supports FEMA and is overseen by U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Force Land Component Command.
