Kentucky UI Opening New Call Center

Kentucky officials hope to improve the unemployment insurance issue by opening a new call center to help residents get the answers they need.

Governor Andy Beshear’s general counsel, Amy Cubbage, said the new call center should be open by the middle of April.

Currently, the state has been taking phone appointments to assist with unemployment claims. The appointments are booked through April 9, with the state able to help 125 people per day.

Cubbage added they have about five percent of claims left from 2020 that are still pending.

She said they are also dealing with a major number of fraudulent claims made this year.

In other unemployment insurance news, Cubbage shared, there is a scam that is circulating on Facebook.

Cubbage said they would never ask for identifiable information through private messaging on social media and that they will never solicit you through the official pages. She added it’s also illegal for them to charge any fees to assist you, but scammers would ask for money.
