A trial date has been set for a Hopkinsville man accused of murder on East 1st Street in August.
Tyresse Hollowell, who remains lodged in the Christian County Jail, and attorney Douglas Moore appeared virtually Wednesday morning before Christian County Circuit Judge John Atkins.
Moore asked for a trial date during the appearance, as a resolution has not been made yet.
Judge Atkins set a trial date for the week of October 25.
In September, Hollowell was indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury in connection to a shooting on East 1st Street that claimed the life of 39-year-old Tiffany Hinton Gray of Hopkinsville woman and injured Kanina Willingham in the early morning hours of August 14, 2020.
During Hollowell’s preliminary hearing in Christian District Court on August 24, Hopkinsville Police Department Detective Randall Greene testified that several videos of the shooting had been obtained from people on the scene that showed Gray’s juvenile son was arguing with Hollowell. During the argument, Hollowell grabbed a gun from another juvenile on the scene and started shooting, hitting Gray twice. Greene added that Willingham was shot while she was sitting inside a vehicle parked on the side of the road.
According to the detective, a witness identified Hollowell as the shooter.
During the investigation, Green said they had collected 40 shell casings from the scene. Officers also recovered one gun, which was turned over to police by the juvenile also charged in connection to the shooting.
