Trigg Magistrates Approve Jailer And Conservation District Budgets

Trigg County Jailer James Hughes

Trigg County magistrates approved the jailer and conservation district budgets during their meeting earlier this week.

Jailer James Hughes presented his $570,400 budget, which is the same as this current fiscal year. Hughes said he met with the county finance committee to make minor adjustments to some of the line items.

The biggest part of the budget, $489,500, is used to pay the jailer’s salary, deputy jailer, transportation and medical costs for inmates, the contract to house them in the Christian County Jail, and other support for the program.

Barry Alexander

Also, Barry Alexander presented the Trigg County Conservation District budget for the next fiscal year. It features total expenditures of just over $210,000 with a carryover from the current budget of $61,537.

Alexander said they are increasing the money needed from the fiscal court by $5,000 to help replace Susan Kyler, who will retire later this year.

The budget also includes nearly $93,000 for personnel, just under $35,000 for operating expenses, and just over $80,000 for administration fees, including the county cost-share programs for Trigg County farmers.

Magistrates approved both budgets unanimously. You can view both budgets by clicking here.

In other actions, magistrates approved Eric Bleidt to the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning and Zoning Commission. Bleidt will take over Larry Kemp’s seat as he stepped away for health reasons.

He will serve on the commission through September 1, 2022.
