The Trigg County Planning Commission forwarded a proposed ordinance change to include doctors’ offices in residential zones to Cadiz City Council.
With the majority vote by the planning commission Thursday night following a public hearing, Cadiz City Council will have to decide if they want to amend the R-1 and R-2 residential zones in the city limits to include doctor’s offices. Commission Attorney Steve Underwood explained prior to the public hearing what the request to the city council would be if passed.

Nancy Fink encouraged the commission to send the ordinance change to Cadiz City Council.
Main Street resident Manual Brown said he was in favor of the ordinance change.
Trigg County native Todd Wallace, who is remodeling the pink house on Main Street where he and his wife will live, said changing the ordinance could lead to problems in the future.
Main Street resident Anita McDonald said she and some of her neighbors have similar concerns.
She and her neighbors, the Travis’, presented a petition and letter from some Main Street residents to the Planning Commission that expressed many of their concerns.
Also speaking during the public hearing were Drs. Harshul and Vaschelli Patel, who have been working for more than a year to get permission to begin renovating the building.
The motion to recommend the change was made by Ken Culwell and seconded by Ken Oakley with all but one planning commission voting in favor. Commissioner Ken Stallons abstain from voting because he arrived at the public hearing late due to a prior commitment.
Cadiz City Council will consider the ordinance at a future meeting. If approved by Cadiz City Council the change in the ordinance would allow Drs. Harshul and Vischelli Patel to renovate the former Cadiz Florist Building to become the Trigg County Medical Clinic.
