Governor Pleased With Kentucky Vaccination Pace

Governor Andy Beshear says Kentucky’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts continues to accelerate, with more than 1.25 million state residents already receiving their first dose.

Beshear said Thursday that is about 36 percent of the adult population, which is exciting.

The Governor highlighted vaccination sites with available appointments and encouraged Kentuckians in Phase 1A, 1B or 1C, as well as any Kentuckians who are 50 and older, to sign up. He said on March 29, all Kentuckians 40 and older will be eligible for all three highly effective COVID-19 vaccines, although vaccination sites will continue to prioritize older individuals.

As of Thursday were 726 new cases of COVID-19, with 19 new deaths and 88 additional deaths from the state audit. The state positivity rate was 2.92 percent, with 403 people hospitalized, 106 in the intensive care, and 49 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases today are: Jefferson, Fayette, Scott and Kenton. Each county reported at least 30 new cases.
