Proposed Cadiz Payroll And Insurance Tax Increase On Hold

Cadiz City Council is putting on hold discussions about an increase in the payroll tax and the insurance premium tax.

When asked during Tuesday’s council meeting about the tax increase discussion from the May meeting by Councilwoman Susan Bryant, Mayor Todd King says that is on hold for now.

click to download audioNo timetable was given for when the tax increase proposal could come up again for discussion. At the May meeting council discussed raising the payroll tax to 1.75 percent and increasing the insurance tax by either two or four percent.

Mayor Todd King recognized former Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission Chairman Bob Brame for service by presenting Brame a key to the city. Brame challenged to begin planning for the future of Cadiz and Trigg County.

Council approved paying $12,000 to help with the installation of a water line along Jolly Drive in the area being developed near the intersection of US 68 and Main Street. Council will pay developer Scott Jolly 3 payments of $4,000 to help pay the expected cost of $28,000.
