Parker, Beloved Trigg County Teacher, Remembered on PBS NewsHour

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, PBS News Hour has taken considerable time to reflect on those who have lost their lives to the virus.

Simone Parker, a two-decade teaching veteran of chemistry at Trigg County High School, was solemnly remembered on May 28 — with long-time PBS veteran anchor and former chief Washington correspondent Judy Woodruff sharing some strong words about Parker’s life:

click to download audioParker died of COVID-19 complications on Jan. 2 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky. A 1992 graduate of Trigg County High School, she went on to finish post-secondary education at Murray State University before returning to teach at her Alma mater in 2000.

As of June 6, the Center for Disease Control reports more than 595,000 Americans have died to COVID-19, though daily new deaths have plummeted over the last three months.
