The Trigg County Chamber of Commerce recognized the Citizen of the Year, Educator of the Year, and a number of other award winners during the annual dinner held Tuesday at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.
Eunice Stone spoke about dedication to Trigg County and preserving the history of the community as she presented the Citizen of the Year award to Kim Fortner, who has worked at the John L. Street Library since she was 16.
Amy Sloan noted the love of students when she presented the educator of the year award to Trigg County Intermediate School Special Education Teacher Cathy Oliver.
Paula Flood noted the enthusiasm of Stuff in Balloons owner LeAnn Champion when she presented her the Horizon Award.
Chamber President Ashley Johnson highlighted the dedication of the Trigg County Hospital staff when she presented the Best Foot Forward award to the hospital for their untiring work through the COVID-19 pandemic.
And Johnson recognized the efforts of the Trigg County School Food Services and Transportation divisions when she presented President’s Awards to Food Services Director Paula Dickerson and Transportation Director Erin Eagleson.
Also during the meeting, Kentucky Chamber Political Affairs Director Travis Burton and Former Kentucky House Majority Leader Jonathon Shell presented the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award to 8th District State Representative Walker Thomas.
President Ashley Johnson also recognized the efforts of new Chamber Membership Director Beth Sumner who began working with the chamber earlier this year.
