More details have emerged regarding the arrest of former Christian County head football coach and athletic director Steve Lovelace.

According to a Christian County Circuit Court indictment, between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2020, Lovelace is accused of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property over $500, by unlawfully converting over $500 but less than $10,000 in funds/checks which were the property of the Christian County High School Football Booster Club/Quarterback Club to his own personal use, with the intent to benefit himself or another, which is a Class D Felony.

The indictment also alleges during that same time period, Lovelace committed the offense of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property over $10,000, by unlawfully converting over $10,000 in funds/checks which were the property of Christian County High School to his own personal use, with intent to benefit himself or another, which is a Class C Felony.

Lovelace was arrested Monday and booked into the Christian County Jail and later released.

Lovelace, who recently joined the football staff at Paducah Tilghman High School, resigned as head coach of the Christian County football team on March 16th, less than two weeks after the Christian County schools announced that he was no longer the athletic director at the school.

In a statement issued through the communications director at the Christian County Public Schools, Superintendent Chris Bentzel stated that since the matter involved someone who was no longer an employee of the school district, the Christian County Public Schools would have no further comment on the matter.
