The latest traffic shift on Interstate 24 has led to a long-term closure of the exit 56 westbound exit ramp in Caldwell County.
Keith Todd, spokesman for District One of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said the exit ramp at Kentucky 139 would remain closed through at least mid-December. The closure is to facilitate the placement of a median crossover near the interchange.
Todd added signage on Interstate 24 will direct people who need to access the road and are traveling westbound to use a detour from U.S. 68/Kentucky 80 to Kentucky 139 in Trigg County.
Todd said the westbound entry ramp and both eastbound ramps are open at the Kentucky 139 interchange.
The full traffic shift to the eastbound lanes is in place as work now begins to allow Hall Contracting of Kentucky to replace 10-miles of concrete pavement along the westbound lanes in Trigg and Caldwell counties. The work zone is in place from the 69 to 51-mile marker of Interstate 24.
