Western Kentucky State Fair Attracts More Than 40,000

The Western Kentucky State Fair attracted more than 40,000 visitors during the 9-day event that wrapped Saturday night.

The fair reported total of attendance of 40,972 visitors this year. Adding to the strong finish were 6,608 fair goers Friday night and 6,688 patrons on Saturday night.

Fairboard President Kent Boyd says the annual event kicked off strong on the first weekend.

click to download audioThe fair could have been headed toward a record attendance, but rain Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday kept attendance to around the 2,000 mark all three days.

Boyd thanked all the volunteer fairboard for making the event a success this year.
