Moore Finishes Cadiz Rotary Presidency; Hensley Next in Line

When the Cadiz Rotary Club next meets on July 13, it’ll no longer be Kentucky Farm Bureau agent J.B. Moore at the bell and gavel as president.

Instead, he makes way for another Cadiz native in FNB Trigg County Market president Kyle Hensley — who’s looking forward to a return to regularly-scheduled programming following a year filled with distanced meetings at Liberty Point Baptist Church, a pair of virtual (albeit successful) Rotary Auctions, and some tough choices surrounding club and community.

As a 1998 graduate of Trigg County High School and 2002 graduate of Murray State University, Hensley was a Cadiz Rotary scholarship award winner prior to his time as a Racer.

Now, he’s ready to pay it forward:

Moore, also a TCHS and MSU graduate, helped push through what he called a “trying year” for obvious reasons. But a month’s worth of missed meetings due to the pandemic didn’t slow the progress of virtual auctions in 2020 and 2021, which combined to raise considerable, record-breaking funds for local seniors and youths.

He’s looking forward to passing along these, and many other, responsibilities to Hensley — while offering considerable support as a past-president and active Rotarian.

Hensley noted one of the bigger immediate discussions surrounding the club includes the possible return to an in-person Rotary Auction. In 2021, a five-day, video/radio auction from the D.J. Everett III Radio Room at WKDZ was wildly popular, but just wasn’t the same.

It’ll be whatever it takes, however, to meet the needs of those should be served.

With president-elect Alana Baker-Dunn next in line for 2022-23, the Cadiz Rotary Club will have seen a Trigg County High School graduate in its top leadership role four of its last five cycles.

Bro. Paxton Redd (Liberty Point Baptist Church), Miller (Lake Barkley State Resort Park), Moore, Hensley and Baker-Dunn also showcases another positive trend inside of the Cadiz Rotary Club — an infusion of youth and experience, something Moore noted could be a sign of perpetuity and growth for the organization.
