A Hopkinsville man was charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry after a traffic stop on South Campbell Street in Hopkinsville Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 26-year-old Gbeayadau Duo for not wearing a seatbelt and he was found to not have insurance or registration for the vehicle.
He was reportedly not compliant with the sex offender registry but told police he was heading to the courthouse to do so but was traveling the wrong direction.
Police say Duo had $960 in cash on him and claimed he had sold someone else’s food stamp card. He is charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry, Intent to defraud or scheme to obtain benefits, and failure to maintain required insurance.
