Authorities have released the name of an Illinois man who drowned after jumping into the water at Sugar Bay on Kentucky Lake in Trigg County Saturday afternoon.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says 69-year old Charles Poettker, of O’Fallon, disappeared after he jumped into the water from a swim platform of a 47-foot Sedan Bridge boat that was anchored around 3 pm. He was not wearing a life jacket and his body was later located by divers.
An autopsy will be done at the Western Kentucky Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville. Trigg, Lyon, and Marshall County Rescue Teams all helped in the search of the water for Poettker.
