The death of a Paducah teen resulting from a likely drowning Sunday at Kentucky Lake remains under investigation.
Officers with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the area of the old beach area at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in Marshall County Sunday morning around 8:30. Witnesses at the scene told officers the teen waded into the water from the shore and did not resurface. They also said he was alone.
The body of the 17-year-old boy was recovered from the water around 30 minutes. The Department of Fish and Wildlife did not release the teen’s name but did say he was from Paducah.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Western Kentucky Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.
It’s the second death reported on Kentucky Lake in as many weeks. 69-year-old Charles Poettker of O’Fallon, Illinois died July 18 when he disappeared after jumping off an anchored boat near Sugar Bay.
