Hopkinsville Solid Waste has announced the Curbside Recycling Program will resume services on Monday.
General Manager Tony Sicari says residential customers can enjoy their own personal recycling containers and convenient weekly service on regular garbage collection days for $5.50 per month.
Sicari says recycling really makes a difference and there is no better time to join local efforts to conserve and expand the life span of the city’s landfill. He adds while curbside recycling services will return to normal operations, drop-off locations will remain discontinued until further notice.
According to Sicari, acceptable curbside recycling items include plastics, metals, and paper products, aluminum cans, steel (tin) cans, newsprint, office paper, corrugated cardboard, fiberboard, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, and telephone books. Recyclables do not need to be separated, and you can place the items in containers in loose form. However, he asks that you do not place plastic bags in the recycling containers as they do not have the means to recycle these items.
If you’re an existing customer, you will be automatically reenrolled for service, so no additional action is necessary. Sicari says the Solid Waste team is delivering containers to customers where needed and account charges will not resume until September.
