A traffic stop on West 7th Street Thursday night netted the arrest of three Hopkinsville residents for meth charges.
Hopkinsville police say the traffic stop occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. when officers observed the driver, 31-year old Tisha Kerns, not wearing a seatbelt. After police spotted a survival knife between the driver seat and console, Kerns and her two passengers were asked to get out of the vehicle. An officer smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in the floorboard.
Police say both passengers, 27-year old Travis Dukes and 23-year old Hailee Bergman, were in possession of meth. Officers reportedly found a bag of meth in Dukes’ watch pocket and a clear plastic baggie of meth was found at Bergman’s feet along with digital scales under her seat. Police say they also found a syringe in her backpack.
During a search of the vehicle, officers say they searched two bags at Kerns’ feet and found multiple meth and marijuana paraphernalia items, a bag of meth, and marijuana inside a tin along with unused baggies in the glove compartment.
All three subjects were taken into custody and lodged in the Christian County Jail. Kerns was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance over 2 grams of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and traffic-related offenses. Bergman was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Dukes was charged with his first offense for possessing meth and drug paraphernalia.
