A Hopkinsville man died in a Nashville hospital Monday after he was struck by a train in Hopkinsville Sunday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say 38-year-old Frankie Burrus of Hopkinsville accidentally wandered onto the tracks somewhere between Walnut Street and Poplar Street and was hit by the train.
A helicopter was called to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to transport him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for what emergency personnel say were severe head, arm, and leg injuries.
Burrus reportedly died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center due to his injuries. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
