Police have released more information about a child that was flown to a Nashville hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Ridgemont Drive at Springmont Drive Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say a 6-year-old was on a scooter and pulled out in front of a van driven by 36-year-old David Spain, of Hopkinsville, that was turning onto Ridgemont Drive after stopping at the intersection. Authorities say the child had pulled out in front of Spain on Springmont Drive as well, but Spain was able to stop before hitting the child.
The child was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened just after 7 pm.
