New Assisted Living Facility Officially Breaks Ground In Hopkinsville (w/PHOTOS)

Excitement was in the air Thursday afternoon as the sod was turned during an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new economic development project off Skyline Drive – Charter Senior Living of Hopkinsville.

CEO/President Keven Bennema said when the 80 unit assisted living/memory care facility on Marie Drive hits about 92% occupancy it will create roughly 80 jobs.

Bennema said he also believes the cost for seniors to live at the facility will not be a “sticker shock”, thanks to investor and builder DMK.

He also said at Charter they are committed to how they treat their employees.

Bennema noted Charter Senior Living has a great reputation in Kentucky and they are proud to expand into Hopkinsville.

Mayor Wendell Lynch said this is the kind of facility that is groundbreaking in more ways than one because this project is what is considered the core of our community – small businesses. He added bringing 80 jobs to our community is vital.

Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce President Taylor Hayes thanked Charter for choosing Hopkinsville and said their values align with our community.

With construction already underway, Bennema said the project should be completed by May or June 2022.

The project is being financed by Planters Bank.
